Projects
Some of our projects.
Three decades of control, safety and optimisation work on some of Nigeria’s most significant hydrocarbon assets — offshore FPSOs, the LNG complex at Bonny Island, and the national refineries.
Bonga FPSO · Nigeria
BONGA FPSO
Fully integrated instrumentation, control and safety systems
Real-time operations management, control and optimisation. Drive efficiency in offshore oil production while managing overall asset safety and ensuring uninterrupted production.
ERHA FPSO · Nigeria
ERHA FPSO
Fully integrated instrumentation, control and safety system
Design, install and commission of a real-time, fully integrated operations management system for control and optimisation of the FPSO — driving efficiency in offshore extraction while managing asset safety.
Bonny Island · Nigeria
NLNG Bonny Island
Control and safety system phased migration
Phased migration of control and safety systems across the Bonny Island LNG production complex, covering distributed control, emergency shutdown and fire and gas safeguarding, and operator training and plant simulation lifecycle modernisation. Delivered April 2014 – December 2019.
Port Harcourt · Kaduna · Warri
Nigeria’s Refineries
Multi-disciplinary refinery services since 2003
Sidler has provided multi-disciplinary services to Nigeria’s refineries dating back to 2003 — spanning plant operations, maintenance, turnaround support, operator training simulators and asset integrity.

Selected reference
Bonga North West: a control upgrade on a producing FPSO.
Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company brought the Bonga North West field onto the existing Bonga FPSO. The distributed control system had to grow with it while the vessel kept producing, and the scope moved four times as the subsea interface was refined.
Client
SNEPCo
Asset
Bonga FPSO, offshore Nigeria
Period
Nov 2014 – Dec 2015
Duration
13 months
Delivered with
Invensys, now Schneider Electric
Scope
Upgrade the Bonga distributed control system to take the North West field development, with the subsea interface, additional input and output capacity, and the operator training simulator in scope.
Change
Four variations were raised and closed out during delivery: a design change, subsea interface modifications, additional scope from an increased input and output count, and extra site commissioning with additional training operators.
Control
Every variation was instructed and reconciled against actual delivery, then regularised in a single closing variation so the final contract position matched what was built. No open items at completion.
Outcome
Completed to the scheduled date of 30 November 2015, with no revision to the completion date and no alteration to the SNEPCo plan.
The common thread
Legacy Invensys, running Nigeria’s critical plant.
Across FPSOs, LNG and the refineries, Sidler’s project work has centred on the legacy Invensys automation stack — Foxboro distributed control, Triconex safety systems and SimSci simulation. It is the same portfolio Sidler represents officially in Nigeria today.
